Mother and New Born Week

Celebrating Mother & Newborn Week at Jaffarabad and Nasirabad Districts of Balochistan
The Balochistan is prone to hazards province of Pakistan where floods, earthquake, draughts, cyclone, arm and tribal conflicts are the common disasters in the province; one of the most serious disaster is lake of education which producing huge manmade disasters in Balochistan where directly women and children are on the target points. The health situation in province is also on alarming position where hundreds of female dies during birth. The WHOs Maternal Mortality Rate Report 2010 findings shows that 260 women dies during birth in 100000 delivery cases, 900 infants dies every day in Balochistan of which 625 are less than one month. If we compare the Maternity Mortality Rate of Balochistan between national MMR by the following findings of Provincial Stakeholder Consultants Report 2007-10, the report says that MMR and CMR in Balochistan is very high due to unavailability of basic facilities in our health centers. The Mother  & Newborn activities were conducted with the support of UNICEF and direct beneficiaries were school children’s, doctors, civil society members, political person and government line departments. The activities were completed in one week.
